How
do I become a leader?
To become a leader, first you have to fill the
registration form for MSM. Then you have to go
through the following steps:
1. Take the Fast Start Training:
2. Contact the MSM to
schedule an appointment for registration. Bring
with you a driver's license and two references.
3. Take the Youth Protection Training:
4. Attend an Executive Committee meeting to be assigned
as an assistant to one of the leaders till you finish
all the upcoming training and you feel comfortable with
leadership.

Who
can become a leader?
It takes a team of dedicated and caring volunteers to make
adventures come alive for our youth. We need parents and
other dedicated adults to help offer adventure and education
to young people. If you can commit 12-14 hours per
month, are willing to help your community and learn new skills,
and successfully complete the volunteer screening process,
you can be a leader!

What
does it mean to be a Muslim Scout leader?
The Muslim Scouts seek to build a generation of Muslim American
Youth who have a strong personality, are physically, mentally
and emotionally healthy; resourceful, courageous and powerful
in character. Our aim along with the BSA (Boy Scouts of America)
is to build a youth that have personal values based on religious
(in our case, Islamic) concepts; have the desire and skills
to help others; understand the principles of the American
social, economic, and governmental systems; are knowledgeable
about and take pride in their American heritage and understand
our nation's role in the world; have a keen respect for the
basic rights of all people; and are prepared to participate
in and give leadership to American society where they can
build their future, the future of their Islamic community,
and the future of the country, under the peaceful light of
Islam.

What
kind of activities do leaders do?
All kinds of activities! From camping and counselling of
their troop to teaching them basic life skills and that is
why it is imperitive that you as a leader are reliable because
these scouts will look upto you and hang on every word or
action that you utter. As a result, it is our perogative
that any leader that does not display sensitivity to a child's
needs, or that contributes negatively be held responsible
for their lack of interest or negative leadership. We are
very strict as an organization and that is why we are successful.
